This story is about the question will there be another company that is similar to Apple.

Long story short — Depends on the customer base of your product/platform.

You may ask what the heck this has to do with the customer base. So let’s dig deep into the above statement to prove it.

What makes you think Apple is faster than most other smartphones? It is nothing but they make their own hardware and softwares and it is so closely coupled that they can bend any of the criteria to their own will.

Now you may think, what is the big deal about this hardware and software, even Samsung and Google could do it right?

I agree to the above point. But let me explain. Have you ever wondered why Samsung/Oneplus/Redmi still uses Android based OS? Do you think it is because they don’t have the engineers to craft a new one? Absolutely they have.
Its because it is a great deal to pull developers to write Application for their platform (By platform I am referring to the OS). You can’t convince a million developers to come down and port their Application to an XYZ OS right?

So how did Apple did this? The answer is TIME. When Apple introduced their iOS or Mac OS (Or every famous OS you use now) it was the time when everyone was new to the domain (I mean no solutions were available that represents long term). And there is no big long term players. Everyone has their chance to obtain their own market of customers. Now it is not even an option as all the puppies are now bulls. And Apple made sure to invent the thing that will be our future (Thanks to steve Jobs for the iPhone and many more) which helped them erase all the existing competitors out of the picture.

So what it takes to achieve then?

You must form a very large loyal customer base with the existing platform and you must have the audacity to implement your own OS in your devices that the developers are willing to port their application just because it reaches to your wide spread loyal customer base. And you could see many companies are following this strategy or I am putting their strategy in this article (Either way is fine for me :P)

OR

Provide a new solution along with your platform that makes easy for developers to convert their existing application to be compatible with yours. I am not sure if this is card is in play in any ones desk.

So how many companies that are present can achieve this feat?

More points and thoughts are not gushed here (Just not to bore you). Drop your opinions in the comments. And feel free to pour in your thoughts. I am all EARS :)
